Mesh gloves

Hi all,

I am very confused as to whether these are repro/retro gloves, or the real deal from to 20s or 50s.

I was pretty convinced they were modern because of the elastic in the wrist and just the overall stretchiness. But I have noticed that most repro/retro gloves have seams on the fingers. These are ingeniously done in tubes with a single round join at the top of the fingers. They also seem more delicate than modern ones. I can't find anything the exact same online, not can I find any truly vintage ones that shrink up as much as these do. The stretch in them is unreal! The elastic in the wrist is a very modern looking round string like elastic.

Any ideas please?
Thanks in advance, Alice M

Hi Alice,

These are also very similar to some that I picked up in the early 2000's made by Leg Avenue. They are very light, soft, and stretchy- like fishnet stockings but lighter and more delicate. They do have a very vintage look to them and I used to love wearing them out. :)

Oooh, they look exactly the same! Do they get really small when you take them off? The seams and pattern seem to be made exactly the same way. Thank you for your help here!

Yes, they shrink back up to be very small when not worn. Regarding Mary Jane's reply- it's definitely very possible that this type of glove has been made the same way for decades by different makers. It might be tough to date your particular pair unless you find the exact same design/style. :/

Thank you for your help and the extra details. I really appreciate it! I think you are right, unless I find the exact pattern one day, I think they will remain decade-less for now.
