Metal tipped stilettos

I have a new passion for vintage shoes. I have found some great stiletto heels I think are from the 50s or 60s. One pair has steel(?) tips on the heels and one pair has copper tips. Does anyone know when metal tips were popular on shoes?

I agree, they come with the super thin stiletto shoe variety, I think the earliest I have are 1956 open toe pumps and they are frequent in 80's shoes. The 50's ones however are like a stud or thick coin, with ribbed sides. 80's are pretty much like metal tips today, with a centre hole and screw/nail visible from the bottom.

Thanks for the information. When would you date this shoe? The label say "Going Steady with Fiancees"

Do you have a clear shot of the shoe profile, toe and side on?

The signs so far suggest late '50s to early '60s. Lucite I think. You can edit your comments, there's a list of options at the bottom.
