Michel Swiss Purse - Rue de la Paix Label

I picked up this purse today, along with a couple of others (including a mint whiting and davis mesh in its original box) and am wondering if anyone has seen this label. Initial google search did show some purses with same label for sale but not a ton of info concerning maker. Thought I would take a pass and see if someone here may have seen the label or might have heard of the company. The purse is nearly mint - only damage is that which can be seen on handle.

A couple of additional questions:

Dating? I get mixed messages from a lot of beaded bags. Ordered a book which I think will help me sort this out in the future - crossing fingers anyway!

Is it worth getting professionally fixed? I see some of the purses from this company with fairly high asking prices but I am unsure as to what criteria they are using. This one has the original change purse still attached inside and a little mirror.

Thank you ladies - appreciate your input as always!

Label (and my finger which I figured you were all dying to see!)

That's a beautiful purse: it must have been quite spectacular back in the day, when it was new. I would leave as is: repairing it will be tricky, and won't necessarily add value. I'm one of those who prefer to buy "as is" and do the repairs myself, rather than redo a repair that I don't like.

What a pretty bag! It seems a company by this name still exists at this address in Paris: http://www.paris-anglo.com/dedent/dedent.php?request=directory/shop/jewelry/index.php
Click "sort by name" and you'll find it easily.

Here's another reference: http://www.francebeaute.fr/entreprise/michel-swiss--paris-c.html

I've found more. Seems it's a perfume/cosmetics shop these days, but there's no actual company website. Looking at the map, I'm pretty sure I actually walked by there the last time I was in Paris a few months ago....! There's a perfume museum not far from there in Rue Scribe.

Thank you both, I appreciate your input. I have been able to find information about the company currently but nothing to provide some historical frame of reference for the bag. Other sellers mention that the company was or is prestigious etc. so I wonder if they have personal knowledge. Oh well, could just remain a mystery. That's ok too.

Heiii,
this is super late, but I saw a Michel Swiss bag on another page and as a Swiss thought, how strange it is, that someone names his label "Swiss" especially since Michel is a really Swiss nickname for Michael.

Then I thought about it and in Switzerland we have the last name "Schweizer" which can be translated as "Swiss" (the nationality) but actually more so means (for me) Swiss man.

so this is why I assume that was his actual Last name lit. translated into Englisch. (which we love(d) to do in Switzerland and Europe, adapt out language to another language and then say that version of our name (mostly first names) but I don't see why they wouldn't do it for last names as well.

xx
