Mink jacket discovery

Greetings! I've been cleaning out a home for an elderly widow (my sweetheart's mother) and came across what we believe is a mink jacket, monogrammed, circa 1964. We know nothing about furs, but it appears to be in very good condition. Similar items, as far as we can see, are for sale online for about $300. There is no label other than the one pictured, which reads, "Canadian." We're looking for confirmation that it's mink, as well as for any additional information that would be worth including in a sale description. How and where does one pitch such an item? If needed, I can add other photos. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

It has been fascinating to try to ferret out information on this mink jacket! (Pun intended.) I appreciate those who have taken the time to read my post. I've spent quite a few hours researching furs now—how to identify them, how to describe them, and options for disposing of them. It's interesting to see the wide range of price tags people are putting on vintage furs, from Ebay to Etsy and on many other websites. Frustrated by not being able to gather much solid information, I decided to donate this mink jacket to Sacred Friends Wildlife Rehabilitation in Norfolk, Va., which is part of the Coats for Cubs program. Best wishes to everyone involved in the VFG! I may come across additional items as I continue to clean out the home of my sweetheart's mother. If so, I'll be back!

You are the best! Furs often don't fetch as much as people hope, these days, so I think this is wonderful solution.

Thanks so much for that encouragement, Ruth! I was afraid I'd be offending some VFG people (by "disrespecting" a vintage fur), so I'm relieved to get your support! We have, in fact, discovered several other vintage fashions in a bedroom closet, so this might not be my last post. I'm always torn, of course, between getting some money to give her for her belongings and knowing when to surrender items as donations. Either way, I appreciate this forum. Best wishes!
