MIT engineer recreates 17th century waistcoat...

This is incredible! Thank you for posting the link. I adore needlework! It's wonderful that so many people were able to come together to work on this project, too.

what an incredible project and what a pity it now must wait for its grand opening in it's own home.

the blog show more detail of the embroidery ~ i want a jacket (or vest) with bees and birds and caterpillars on it ~

thanks for sharing!!

What a great idea! I can just imagine how good it looks with jeans :spin: .

This reminds me, when I was in Spain a few years ago, they had a small exhibition at the Real Alcazar (the old royal palace) in Seville, where they had faitfully re-created clothes from 15th/16th century paintings, that showed Italian and Spanish aristocrats. There weren't many explanations in English, most was in Spanish, but it was incredibly impressive. They were not behind glass, and one could really see the incredible work that went into them. I always find these kinds of things very fascinating!
