Montgomery Ward labels- dating sweater

So at what point do I need to start paying a toll to use this forum? LOL

Today I have another item that I am unsure of the dating on. Its a light knit sweater by Montgomery Ward. The label resource dates a similar logo to between 68-82. Well, thats broad. Also this label says "Japan." Take a look-see and let me know what you all think. As per usual, I'll try to post a couple pics here. Thanks, all!

Yes, thats what I thought- it has the 60's cut/silhouette- so thats how I styled it. I am trying to get more accurate with my dating- its so nice to have the validation here!

mid-60s

That's knit. There're purl stitches on the back side. They look like... like...little smiles. Rows of 'em.

So cute! And, yes, 60s (and I agree with bycin, probably mid).

Montgomery Wards had cute clothing back in the day, like its "Carol Brent/Miss Brent." While some people think of it as "cheap," it really wasn't. As did all the low/mid-range department stores, it did carry some cheaper, lower-quality lines. But a lot of it was solid, nicely made, while not "top shelf," stuff. If one were to compare a Montgomery Ward's coat, for example, from the 60s to an "equivalent" WalMart piece today, there's no comparison....

Sorry to ramble on, but sometimes people think that stores like Wards and Sears carried "junk" apparel, but they didn't.... I've had the most adorable things from Wards!

thanks all! I agree on Wards having cute things- I have had several great items that were all Wards from the 60s. Yeah that earring and necklace set is plastic and was obtained at an estate sale last summer. They are fun/funky and a great pop of color on film!

I agree about being made in Japan a clue as well--I don't think there was still a lot of apparel being made in Japan into the 70s, although there was some. I have a K-Mart dress, of all things, made in Japan and that I think is early 70s.
