Got another description dilemma lol... what is the term for a waist like this? is there a special term or no? no its not a belt but a thick waist band?

Thank you :-)

@%!!CRIKEY@#%!! That's some amazing fabric! More photos of the dress, please.

I've just been calling that a banded waist. Not that that's the official name for it.

It's almost like what I have seen referred to as a cummerbund waist, except it's not pleated or ruched - your other dress does seem to have a definite cummerbund waist. Cummerbunds don't always have pleats though, so perhaps it's an appropriate term for this one too?

But I have to admit I don't know very much...

awesome thank you for the description, yes I love this print it was another custom made dress for that lady who only waers custom made dresses.

here is a full shot just for fun :-)

Thank you golden,, the other dress is an actual cumberbund lol... it has two belts with it, a classic thin buckle belt and the cumberbund.... I am guessing she was long in the waist? who knows... I just liked it better than the thin belt :-)

thank you all I will just refer to it as a banded waist I like that:headbang:

What a fantastic print – and great how the curves in the fabric suggest the curves of the bust in the dress. :)

I've been thinking about these dresses. The fabrics remind me of fabrics intended for use in interiors for slipcovers or curtains - especially this one. I can picture the other one being used for toss pillows.

Are they both glazed cotton (chintz)? They are both wonderful!

Linn

ohhh linn you may be right about the glazed cotton,... for the other one though.... this one is raw silk. or imitation raw silk... I can't be positive. but I think it is raw silk but it is finished on the inside so I can't snip and burn for sure.... but the other one is a thick stiff cotton so I think you hit the nail on the head. thank you :-)

Yeah I hate to part with the pink and black one but I am preggers and I don't think I will be able to get into it for a while if ever lol.... plus it is wearable but not in perfect condition, as most vintage isn't but if it was it would be nicer lol! but no holes or rips so thats good :-)

Thank you ladies,,, yall made my week :-) know whats better about this... I found this in a local vintage shop who does trades.. I traded her like 8 70s pieces (which I paid a dollar a piece for) for this dress, 2 more 50s and one 40s. so I am entirely happy with the deal.

Thank you all yall truely have made my day!
