more fun with shell shaped purses!

Ever since seeing this recent thread I've wanted to post a picture of the shell-shaped bag (in mother-of-pearl rather than gold metal) my MIL gave me a couple of years back. She says she got it domestically, in a specialty shop, and wore it for evenings out in the 60s.

The interior is suede, and the strap a very fine chain, braided to resemble cord.

It weighs a LOT!

Don't know that I'll ever actually use it, as its swingy length and fragile MOP make a less than ideal combination (and come to think of it I have no idea how my MIL managed to take it out on the town without demolishing it...)

The late 70s gold one reminded me of it so much--guess it qualifies as a design inspiration for that...
