More help please. . . . What in the world is this incredible fabric??

Another item recently received is a Harry Acton for Party Formals ruffled gown. I've fallen in love with the practical, resilient fabric but can't figure out what it is. Although I haven't heard of such a thing, it feels like nylon taffeta. It is very lightweight yet tends to keep its shape, necessary to hold the ruffles in place. At the same time, the material gives the impression of a nylon windbreaker (which does not hold its shape) but it isn't waterproof. In fact, the gown was extremely soiled. I washed it in warm water and Woolite and it is now pristine. I've never known another fabric that cleans so thoroughly and easily. Does anyone have a clue what the material is?

Many thanks in advance!

Mia
