Hi again,

So as you can tell I am terrible at dating vintage shoes. I have a pair of Sabatini of Florence shoes that I am having trouble finding info on.

The only other pair that I could find on google that appeared to be the same time period were dated 1940s and although I got these particular shoes along with a bunch of other obviously 40s shoes I'm not confident of the time period for these.

Does anyone have any help with dating these shoes?

thanks so much

They are the style that are worn on stage.... and I really suck at shoes but they deffinately look newer. I love those type of shoes! I think they are cute as can be and I have this style in red, black, nude and brown!

They're looking 70s to me too.

Jennifer's comment about wearing them on stage is why the high heeled mary jane is often referred to as a Character Shoe. They're most often used for chorus members in musical theater productions to give a relatively uniform look. Also, if you're doing a period piece, ideally, at least the lead actresses are wearing period correct shoes, but foot size (and budget) sometimes make that impossible. The character shoe has become a convention used to cover all eras when necessary.

The heel shape on yours is a little "edgy" for a completely classic character shoe.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the input!! This makes sense to me because the shoes that I found in my search that were marked 1940s really looked 1970s to me so it stands to reason that these ones are as well.
