These are from the same estate as the leopard Rosina Ferragamos. I was really tempted to keep them and get them stretched (they are narrow)....but listed anyway. Well, in true shoe hoarder fashion, turns out she had TWO PAIRS!

The woman running the estate brought me this yesterday...

There are about 8 Rosina Ferragamos, 2 prs of Herbert Levines, some actual Salvatore Ferragamos.....Delmars, Valleys, Pallizos. 48 Pairs. The zebra stilettos are FABULOUS but would best fit a 6, I can get them on but ow. OW.

So here's the actual question. These vary in size a little, mostly 7 1/2 AA or AAA to 8 1/2 A to AAAA. All high end, well made, good leather, some never worn. I believe they would stretch at a cobblers to be able to be a normal width.

Do I DO it? TO at least some, or mention the possiblity in the listings? I know their appeal is limited when narrow.....but on the one hand, if a narrow wants them and I've stretched them, too late. If a normal width wants them and I haven't, they may not know/have a cobbler. So. What to do?

Also, if I leave them narrow but I know they could sell to a 7 (length fit) but need stretched, what size goes in the title?

I'm thinking to start with getting the leopard one I am keeping stretched to see how it goes & what it costs. If these were run of the mill boring shoes I wouldnt worry so much, but the Rosinas and Levines are fantastically designed.....those brown 60s Rosinas w/ the snakeskin details are actually studded with brass SCREW HEADS! Just great shoes, I'd love for them to really do well.

Thats all! Thanks for any suggestions on what to do & how to title w/ sizing....

WOW! What an incredible haul--I could sit and look at these all morning...

I know next to nothing about the vintage shoe market, so can't really offer sound advice on whether the select AAA and AAAA vintage shoe-wearing market is large enough to absorb these beauties... (One thought: If you do decide it's worth the time/$ investment to have the skinniest ones stretched--do you think your cobbler may give you a discount for having multiple pairs done?)

Can't stop gaping...

Yep yep. I listed a couple as is for now (I'm working toward a personal $$ goal in sales for the month and am SO CLOSE!!)....so I listed & recommended stretching. I am going to take the red leopard ones she WORE (the ones I listed are mint), and keep them for myself...they fit lengthwise but need stretched....so I will see how they turn out and the cost. Then I can consider doing more if it goes well & is cost effective. I think I can make most of these just regular old 7s in fit with stretching, but do I spring to do ALL of them....the best ones....HMMMM. I'll play it by ear, and see how mine turn out. Some of the newer ones, like the tangerine & blue sueded S. Ferragamo loafers on the bottom of the pic fit me (7) perfect....so I have some things to work with for now too.

And another huge box coming!

Thanks for your thoughts on this.....

oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!how wonderful to see them....any larger sizes at all?? loh shame all small feet! duh..'m a uk 8 and l'm looking for a brown, black and gold pair of high court shoes suitable for my vintage dresses..so...l shall keep watching...are they all for ebay???

No, absolutely do not stretch. The stretched length won't be reliably dead on to the next width. And there are people who desperately look for these narrow sizes. And its the high end shoes that are the only ones they can find it. I think you would be making a mistake

not to mention people who see a pair of shoes and excitedly call their friend/sweetie/relative who desperately looks for that size, only to bring home a pair of shoes to them that is not even close.

I agree with Chris about not stretching those for sale, based on the experience of selling a wonderful batch of 9 AAAA shoes I got at an auction. They sold very well to very grateful people, so I know there are customers out there!

What a fabulous eye that woman had!

I posted a pair of Rosina Ferragamos the other day that look like they are from the same collection as one of your pair....I'm drooling over your haul.

**** The Shoe Width Crusader SPEAKS ****

PLEASE, do NOT stretch these lovely shoes that those of us with slender feet seek out and treasure.

I second what Maggies said, and third (?) what Chris said.

The narrow width not only effects the shoe front, but the entire length of the shoe. The heels are narrow (thank goodness!) and the middle of the shoe is narrow, too. (double thank goodness!)

If I wear anything in a B or M the heel slips off my foot.

I've seen high-end shoes in AAAA (which have a AAAAAA heel, by the way) do very well, as Maggie said.

Please do not ruin these beauties by stretching them.

Anything in 8AA?? :love008:

I'm working toward a personal $$ goal in sales for the month and am SO CLOSE!!

Just one question Ang: Where do I get the vitamins you seem to be taking?~! WOW woman! You're on fire!!

Really! I thought my vitamins were good, but maybe I need to double my dose!!

BTW, all these shoes are so fabulous, I'm speachless!

I'm currently watching 3 pairs, including the black patent pilgrim ones that are MY SIZE, but are not in my budget this week. ;)

I had three very cool pairs of Herbert Levines that I sold last fall, all mid-60's ones like your pilgrim pair and the screw-head butterscotch ones (also watching!) One pair in navy had a HUGE brass ring on the vamp, in the same pilgrim style. Unfortunatly, the previous owner had stretched them out through wearing them, so I had to sell them with the proper size listed, but that they were stretched out and too wide for a proper fit.

You may want to shout to the world the correct size of these beauties in your listing titles. People look for these fabulous slim size sizes!

Wow, lots of thoughts on this! I'm on a different computer now (I'm actually about to go on a buying appt!), but I will heed your advice. Saves me trouble AND money! These will all likely fit 7 narrow to super narrow best....I used 7N in the titles.....I know lengthwise they wont fit an 8, they fit ME lengthwise perfectly (and measure as such, on a chart I've used for years). I give all size info & details in listings....so I guess we'll see. I've got 48 pairs from yesterday, about 8 from last week and a huge box coming still....so I'll have a LOT to list! They'll be spread between my site & ebay. I'll still see about getting the red ones I want to keep stretched, for me, since there are 2 pairs of them!

I think the real issue here, Ang, is that you have WAY too many fabulous shoes.

When you get them all at once like this, it's BAD LUCK! :o

So, just SEND them to me, and I will take all your shoe width concerns and worries off your mind. It's that easy! Just send them on over!

Gosh I hope its not bad luck! I dont get shoes real often, so it was "my turn", I guess. Is it wrong that I cant wait to see the others? I'm pretty excited about the clothes, she was a size 12-ish, nothing is "tiny"....so very sellable. She had pretty amazing taste! Ang

Some of those shoes would appeal as specimens to collectors and they wouldn't want them stretched either. Stretching really doesn't change a size, it just eases the current size, as if they had been broken in for you, so if you have a slightly wider foot, the shoe would fit more comfortably. I wouldn't stretch anything with patent, fur, or decorations that could split or pop. Stretching is really only meant for sturdy leather walking shoes of a thick hide that can take the forcing. If you stretch a delicate kid it could split, patent could crack or lift, fur will split and textile could tear. I would sell them as they are.

I was only thinking to stretch for width, since they're SO narrow...I realize it wont change the length (believe me, I had a pair once I loved so much I went in & asked!!! They politely told me the only way to change the length is to take them apart & rebuild them....hahahhaha).

But in this case, I can only suggest to the buyer if they want them wider they can talk to a cobbler....I'm leaving them as is. I do think they are collector/museum worthy, at least some of them are anyway!

Thanks for the advice, glad I asked! Ang
