Mother Silk Robe?

I have a robe with a dragon on the back. It has Mother on the back. Reading the silk thread I believe this is silk. I know these type of robes as what soldiers would send home to their Mothers or wives.
I have 2 questions.
1. Can I be definite it is silk? Very luxurious feeling and thick robe with weight.
2. If it has some spots how would I clean it? or should I? Could a cleaners do it? What would I ask them to do? Dry cleaning?

Thanks. Sandy

Thank you. The stains almost look like rust but not sure if just water stains. The dragon puffs are all over the robe.
I appreciate any help on this. Is it a lost cause?

Sorry, I missed seeing this...It looks like silk to me from your photos. Have you tried Folex on the stains? Gently with a q-tip first in an area that is not as noticeable first to try it out.

If you have a great dry cleaner, I would take it to one...I have yet to find another good one around here. The older gents who knew how to work with good fabrics are no longer with us and the people
who take over these cleaning establishments appear to not have a clue!

Very pretty, what a great mother's day present this would make!

Sandy,

I can't see a close enough view of the dragon but one good way to tell what country it is from is that Korean dragons have 4 toes - Chinese dragons have 5 toes, and Japanese dragons have 3, according to one of our members.

Interesting. The dragon has 3 toes so Japanese. It was in a Wells and Coverly Syracuse box which was a high end mens shop.
Would something like this be sold there or is it someone just stuck it in this box over the years. Thank you.

I had to lighten the photo. It does not have pink in it.
