Here's a bit of fun to kick-start your weekend! I recently came across these wonderful illustrations which depict some of the weird and wonderful designs taken from the avant garde 'Museum of Contemporary Crafts' in New York 1968.
And guess who was one of the designers? None other than Paco Rabanne who must have been in his mid-thirties at the time. His first haute couture collection in Paris 1966 was entitled, "Twelve Unwearable Dresses".
This particular exhibition was divided into three sections: The Function of Clothing, The Peacock Approach and Clothes and the Environment.
Here's a selection:
"The Osmosis Helmet" - fitted with a four inch vertical "mind vibrating engine"
The Inflatable "social event" costumes by Robert Malone. Replaces the shooting stick, even the coffee table. Mmmm - not sure about that!
A "super" electronic motorcycle outfit by Diana Dew of N.Y. Covered in badges and gadgets.
Aluminium "art form" collars eliminate the need for jewellery, says Emme van Leersum of the Netherlands.
Perish the thought!!!!!
What do you think?
Wishing you all a fab and groovy weekend! Yeah baby!
