Musty smelling fur coats

I have bought several genuine fur coats from charity shops and they smell musty.
I have heard that using coffee grounds can take the musty odour out but I was wondering if there was any other way other than using coffee grounds and do I need to freeze the coats as well

Thanks

Hi, Sometimes having a furrier clean your fur garments can remove some or all of the odor. It's not a guarantee nor are the coffee grinds but both can do the trick. A humidifier/purifier can help remove excess moisture and impurities from the air which if placed in the same room with fur garments can help to eliminate and prevent odors.
You should have your fur garments furrier cleaned at least once a year when not in season to remove any impurities and maintain condition.

Placing a fur garment in a freezer in a sealed plastic bag for 72 hours, removing, thawing, shaking out, and repeating the process can kill pests however scent may still remain afterwards and it's important not to get the skins of fur garments wet.
