my first vintage fair in a long time!

It's been nearly ten years since I took on a stall of my own, and I'd sort of got used to the luxury of selling from home. I forgot how much hard work the setting up was.. but still, it was worth it.
I had a great day, met lots of nice people (including Lei, who I had a stall alongside!) and took home a little bit less than I went with. And DIDN'T buy anything, so am immensely proud of myself.. :D There was a great deal to tempt me though I must admit!
I only have a few pictures so far, am waiting for some more to be emailed over (I remembered everything except a camera, so these are from a friend who attended) and aren't wonderful, but I can thoroughly recommend it for buyers and sellers alike.

Some not very clear shots I have so far! Sorry about my hair. I'll try and post more wide ranging ones once I get them!

:)

Wish you'd all been there!

Oh, you look great. I wish I could just step into the picture and start shopping.

I'm on Gary's computer now as my has finally died and gone to 'Puter Heaven and have managed to get photos off the camera. Gary only managed to get a few before the throngs of people came flooding in and most of the photos seem to be of the stall being set up and me in rather unflattering poses!!! the last photo shows the stall all unpacked and ready. Harriet and i shared the middle table and was right beside me.

Nicola, where are you then? If your in the UK, Edwin is going to have another Nottingham fair later on this year and he's going to have one in Oxford. Harriet and I are going to that one too.

Does anyone live near enough to go the Santa Monica vintage expo the weekend of April 28? I have never sold at a vintage show but after seeing how much you are having Hatty, I am going to need to give it a whirl. Your hair looks great, by the way. You are SOOOO GOOD to NOT buy anything, Hatty. I doubt I would be able to resist the temptation. :)

Great pics Lei!

Well I have to admit the goodness wore of a little bit today and I accidentally bought a gorgeous embroidered bedjacket and 30s wedding dress. But they were reduced, so that's my excuse! I had an awful lot of pent up shopping in me I think - seeing all those people wandering around with bags and bags full of clothes was like torture :D

It was definitely a fun day out though!

Oh, I wish I'd been there!! I'll post soon on my blog about my attempted vintage shopping up north instead. What *is* that fantastic green dress? I want it (or did you sell it :( )?

You both look really chic - I do not see unflattering hair or poses!

I hope Oxford arrangements come to fruition.

No, I live in Canada. I don't hear about things like this ever going on around where I live.

I think not being allowed to shop is cruel and unusual punishment. :) I am in Chicago on a business trip. Over lunch, I stopped at an antique mall and found a fabulous late 50s dress in a larger size. I can't wait to get home to photograph it for sale. I also stopped at a Salvation Army thrift store and found a darling dotted Swiss empire waist 70s dress for $1.50 USD! I also found a lovely pink satin halter dress in a larger size. That one is also headed for sale.

My personal shopping was bidding on a pair of Lovely Rita's shoes. :) Oh! I did go to Target and bought a pair of blue floral skimmers and a pair of socks. I was a good girl!

sorry about changing the subject but Harriet, your site is FANTASTIC! I love it. AND I love those birds too, they are gorgeous!

LOL - thanks so much Kelly! It's not quite all finished but thought I'd better get it going what with all the flyers I handed out at the fair.... Links page and policies etc. will be added shortly! :BAGUSE:

I agree with Kelly, the site IS fantastic!!! Nicely laid out, easy on eyes, and the simple, yet beautiful statement with the birds.

GOOD FOR YOU!

And your hair is perfect - it fits right in with the era of your top!!

Deborah

Lei,

I'd love to join you both at Oxford - but if things go to plan, I should be clearing out surplus stock before then (haha, plan??). Mind you, there might be the odd thing around. And I can do some viral marketing via my povertystricken contacts (er, something wrong with that last sentence?). However, whatever happens, I will come and *buy* something then!

L

great site Harriet!! :headbang:
