All my life I have been going to one fair or another, coin/ stamp faire , antique, and lately engineering one.
Yesterday it was my first vintage fashion fair, there is one held 20 miles away from me which I never made the effort to go to b so I decided not to go to vintage fairs preferring to put my trust in shops/ online as you have time to think if I really need it.
Any how imagine my shock when walking to the bank yesterday morning when I past a sign on a church hall saying Vintage Fashion Fair Today, nothing would stop me from popping in.
I found at later talking to a stall holder it was the first one been held in Harrogate, although the room was small room they fitted in maybe 18 to 20 dealers with a wide range of clothes , accessories dating more towards the later decades 60 to 80's.
It was very interesting to see all the fashions and several dealers wearing vintage clothes was a nice touch as well. I did here that in the first 3/4 hour when I was there about 100 people had passed through the doors, I expect the final total would be many times that.
Whilst I only bought a 80's pearl necklace because I had not budgeted to going to a vintage fair. I can save up for the next ones which are planned later in the year and will end up spending more I know.
I had a enjoyable time, if too short a stay, and did look out for any VFG members there could not see any, maybe next time I meet some of your there.
For a first fair in my home town I think it was great! and long may it continue as it promotes vintage fashion maybe to some who would not have seen what it has to offer.
