Sorry .. I had to put that in there....

My hubby got me a 1938 Montgomery Ward magazine,, in great vintage condition!

As a new seller and learning as I go, I am just overwhelmed with this magazine. My whole concept of styles has changed.. There are some dresses featured that look like 1950s... just pages of dress designs, pages of shoe styles that all look like 20s to 50s in style for the beginner... so detailed. hats purses and all kinds of accessories.

Everything is detailed fabric types..even better than that there is one page with actual clips of the Rayon fabrics... acetates, to crepes to tube something?? I cant remember lol..

I feel like my hubby gave me a gold mine!! I am so excited....

I just feel like I am so lucky to have a husband that loves me and is encouraging me and helping me,... He was just as excited as me to get the magazine lol....

But there is just a WEALTH of information in this 2" thick book.

Eventually.... I will be photographing and documenting all the informative pages and uploading them on my web page... once I get them done I think i will make it search-able... I will see how long that will take but I will put a photo up tonight as an example..

I am so excited and can not wait to share this information especially with the rest of the newbies out there!!!

Thank you all and have a great CHRISTmas!!! :-)

Am i wrong but look at the last pic one the left, the little girls dresses look later that 1930s dont they... even the womens dresse remind me of the 40s ( i know its 1938) but they really look later to me, and look at the white pumps... never seen that heel in this era personaly,,,, was very neat to see them in a magazine.

OK thats it... im off to bed

That really looks like fun! Those Sears and Wards catalogues provided a lot of amusement in our house. Especially, for us, the Christmas 'Wish' book...loaded with toys!

That's the thing about clothes, the designs don't just change, but instead gradually evolve.
Things from the end of a decade/beginning of the next are called cuspers since they could be either/or.

Great husband you have, I love old catalogs and just do not find them here.
