I finally finished taking pictures of my Lanz Dresses. Lizzie this should interest you. There are two labels they look the same except one label has LO in the heart and the other a LC in the heart.
Here are the two labels.
These Dresses have this label (LO in Heart)

Do you think the embroiderer forgot to close the "o" or did they change from Lanz originals to lanz company???

(of course i have no clue!)

( i like the yellow one and the black sleeveless ones best!)

No. I checked for mistake. The other were consistant with label. Also the dresses with the C were folded in on the sides...

the C stands for 'California' - there's a whole debate about it in our Lanz thread! The proportions of those first two are very comparable to those of my black velvet example - I'll have to link it to this thread so you can see...

I would guess your dress would be 50's. But its a hard call. From my dresses I would guess Lanz in the 50's operated in their own little Austrian world. Using elements here and there.

Are you sure that that label dates that early? I am curious on how long they used label. I know nothing about Lanz...

The shoulders and sleeves on your dress throw me. But I would guess earlier dresses would be more traditional Austrain in style rather then what was instyle. This is just a guess.

Ok, this is what we were considering re: the label on the other thread. You need to compare it to the earlier and later ones:

but if you go check the label resource, you'll find this label has most similarities with the very first one up there; later labels (40s and after) switch to having 'Lanz' in script, the faces change slightly, and the labels become wider.

This label is already registered by c. 1952, as it's a trademark acquired by the new firm when Lanz California becomes something separate. Some very obviously 40s garments have the third label on them, so we're presuming they switched to that one.

The v. late 30s see a few of these girlie, velvety, printed fashions, with collars etc., coming in with the ethnic look. I associate the wide dipping neckline with that and 40s dresses. Full skirts don't need to be 50s...

On the other hand, all of these could be later. We just need to get to the bottom of this... Lizzie?
