This NOS apron was perfect but it had really hard creases from years of storage. So I ironed it but neglected to turn off the steam button. During the ironing the iron spat some drops of hot water out that left a few small but noticeable marks.
Which you can't see in this picture but this is just to give you an idea of it:
How can an apron get water stains??
So my dilemma is: should I just wash the thing and iron it while damp to see if that cures it?
There is a paper label on one of the pockets but fortunately its only pinned on and could be removed and replaced. But I might lose the original finish that I think the apron has - the pockets have a glazed finish, for example, and I remember washing a 50s cotton scarf/hat thing and it losing its glaze.
Also, would it no longer be NOS if I launder it and replace the paper label?
I'm not sure what the fabric content is. Its a fairly heavyweight stiff fabric that might possibly be a dull finish rayon, or it could be cotton.
Any input most humbly and gratefully received!
