Mysterious designer

I've been researching this label and have drawn a complete blank. I would love to know more about the Marie France label so if anyone has any information I would love to know.

There's nothing about this designer in any of my reference books although I have Googled the name and found a dress with the same label.

I think this dress dates to the '70's. Apologies for the poor photography. I took these last night so they're not great. The fabric is viscose and it's so beautiful to the touch. A very good weight so it drapes well and doesn't bulk.

Thanks in advance.

Looks to me like Marie France loved Jean Muir!
If this did not have this label, I would have thought surely it must be a Jean Muir. Looks like the same type of jersey viscose that Muir loved to use.

Perhaps these were lower priced copies of Jean Muir styles.

Would love to hear more about Marie France too.

Thanks Mary Jane. I agree this dress definitely has the look of Jean Muir. Eeek! I'd love one of those please. :)

Still working on the research but there's a 'Marie France' that originated in Montreal by Hungarian-born designer, Robert Agai. Does anyone know that name?

Thanks gals! I shall follow all your links and take a look. Yes, perhaps these are two completely different lines that happen to have the same name, Marie France.

I appreciate your input.

Not sure if this is the same Marie France, a film costume designer?

And if so this is a picture of the lady herself! http://www.zimbio.com/photos/Marie+France/Period+Costumes+Screen+Collection+Cosprop/NYiz5GF4_c2

Just remembered that I found the above link yesterday but just wasn't sure whether it's the same Marie France.

My label is almost the same as the one in the closed eBay listing (Emma P) but doesn't have 'Ltd' at the end and it's different again to the other listing for the cream frock. The print style is the same though.

I can definitely see the Jean Muir influence, as mentioned earlier.
