Mystery 70s Laura Ashley dress..

Hi everyone! I’ve recently been given a Laura Ashley dress and i have never seen the print, or style of dress before. It’s beautiful, but i’d love to know more about it. I’ll add photos so you can admire too, please let me know if you have any ideas!

Thats a wonderful Laura Ashley dress!

It looks like there is another label underneath, can you show that and any other labels (both sides if relevant) - care labels will help date it.

The main label is similar to the 70s ones in the VFG label resource, but we don’t have this exact one: size S rather than a numerical dress size, and Made In Wales in upper and lower case rather than all caps.

If you give us permission to use it, it would be a good addition to the resource.

Definitely 70s I would say - I wonder if early or late in that decade though

I think we have the exact dress in black moire. The donor we got it from couldn't remember exactly when she wore it but she remembered the boyfriend she had at the time bought it for her as a birthday or Christmas gift (it was a size too small, so she only wore it a few times). it dated sometime between August 1979 and December 1981 (her birthday was in August).
