I bought this coat in a charity shop and cannot find anything similar online. The label says Burberry London, but there is no distinctive check. Any info on the coat and possible

value would be much appreciated!

Do you mean the signature plaid lining? Not all Burberry includes the plaid lining. The care label is a fairly new one, if that helps. You can check the "sold" listings on eBay for a sense of value.
Thanks. Yes I do mean the plaid lining. What is odd is that I cannot find a similar one online anywhere so have no idea if it’s value.

Your coat is post 2000 because it lacks the s on Burberry. In the 2000s/2010s Burberry went through a significant rebranding in order to distance themselves from the negative ‘chav’ association that the brand, and especially the signature check pattern, then had. So I suspect your coat comes from that period, when the check was less used.

If you search for ‘Burberry chav culture’ you find a number of articles on the subject.

As stated we can’t help you with value or pricing.

Thank you so much! The coat doesn’t have a size on any label. Do you know why?

My husband is English, and he uses both, but not interchangeably. :) ETA: he studied fashion design, so he may be more precise about pattern descriptions than most.

I never say plaid. It is probably in use here, perhaps especially in the fashion world, but in my experience it’s not common.

The first time I saw it was the film Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid (Steve Martin) and I had no idea what it meant! I also assumed it was pronounced like played.

Of course as time goes on more and more American words get used here - language is never static
