Name for this fabric treatment?

It's probably really obvious, but I'm only coming up with boucle ... insets ... decorations.... ??

The dress is a satin brocade and the design is poppies, which is pretty neat.

I would not call that flocked, Amanda...I'm at a loss I can only think of "nubby" but that's not quite it either. Actually, it does remind me of a "boucle".

My first thought was chenille as well.

I'd call it satin damask (a type of brocade) - if the reverse is the opposite of the face) with bouclé inserts. It looks like red "imitation" curly lamb, too!

Linn's description works for me, with maybe the adjective "novelty" to start things off.

It's fabulous! I love the way the boucle imitates the flower it represents--a visual pun, as it were...
