name that lace!

ok, have gone totally braindead after many hours of catching up with photographing things! This is the fabric of a 60's wedding 'cape' that goes over a dress. I am not sure if this is hand or machine done (hand?), all i can come up with so far is a very vague cotton lace?

It looks machine made to me, similar to a Quaker lace but not exactly. Hope that helps!

You could go with the generic "crochet lace".....looks like it might be pretty!

thank you both! looked up a lace identification page that showed me a diagram of bobbin vs. machine lace and now i can see that it's machine made. i think i will go for crochet lace as it covers two keywords too! good idea jenn!

Hi Harriet,

Yes, this is definitely machine made lace. Very pretty with the raised
bobbles (almost has an irish crochet look).
