Names in Clothing?

I have a really well made Hong Kong tailor men's blazer. It has the shop address, et al, right in the jacket. It also has, a "specially made" for label and then the name of the man it was tailored for is embroidered under that. I think that's kind of neat and from what i have come acrossed, it is always a sign of a quality custom garment.

Anyway, what i was wondering, is i am "mentioning" that the embroidered tag is there, but am wondering if you would make any mention of the name at all. It is a last name and initials situation, and it IS a fairly common name that you probably could open the phone book in any city and find quite a few people with the exact last name and first initial.

On one hand, maybe someone would think it was neat to own something that already has their name on it, but on the other hand, it might not sit well with others. Would you just show the tag in pictures and make no mention of the name in words in the actual description of it?

Or would you just state embroidered name and not show or make mention of the name?

I would probably only mention the name if it said Brad Pitt or Gregory Peck :kiss2:

Otherwise, I would just do as you said, mention it was custom made and has to individual's name on a tag but leave the actual name out.

Of course, if it DID say Brad Pitt or Gregory Peck, there'd be no way in the world I'd be selling it!!

If it was 1800s i might be tempted to say it for the sake of nomenclature/geneology buff, but other than that i think i will just go like you say because it isn't 100 years old.

If it were Gregory Peck, rest assured, it would be under glass and admission would be charged. I would have to get my address in one of those maps to all the tourist traps. You know.."next exit, Cracker Barrel, "The Mystery Spot", the Fanny Farmer factory outlet to buy expired chocolate...and see Gregory Peck's suit" line up, guys.

I would recommend the same. I had a tailored men's jacket with the same situation and I put the name in the auction. It never sold.....So, if I list it in the future, I had already thought of doing what you suggested.

I recently sold a tooled leather handbag with the crafter's name inside...it is a local artisian and I did not think she would like her name on the internet, so I didn't include her "actual" name...just that it was stamped inside.
