Nautical Sailor Dress

I am looking for a vintage nautical sailor dress for October to wear to the Navy Day Ball. (guess I shoulda stated that the first time lol)

Ideally I want a 1940s - early 60s full skirt with a nice front. I want to show some clevage, a halter ur nice scoop/square neck. not a button up the neck. I do not want to have to alter anything that is from the 60s or lower. A sailor collar would be nice.

Or..... anything nautical influenced that would be "themed" to go with the Navy ball, a red halter with an anchor or something like that. Even if it doesnt have an anchor I suppose I could add one wihtout really harming the piece?

I am not limited to full skirts, I just like them , but a sexy wiggle is fine too. I will alter 1970s and 80s as long as they can be cut to fit my wishes. no BIG bows collars or super short skirts.

OR.. if yall have a better idea then let me know and I will keep that in mind.

I think I will be needing a large but I hope to get into a medium lol. I am due this month with baby but I have a tighlacer corset so I am guessing between working out and the corset I can get to a 30" waist plus or minus an inch since i was a 27" prior tp preg and this is my second though i weigh more I am thinner all over lol still in preg med/largs

Thank you all!!!

Yes anne :-) cocktail or tea/party..... now it can still be cotton since vintage has a classy look of its own that todays dresses don't so what might of been a summer dress then may work for me but no house dresses or aprons with pockets lol :-)

Problem solved sort of?

Well as much as I hate 70s and 80s I found this dress lol... I am expecting to be between 30-32" at my waist by October (postpartum) so I needed a dress that size range...

Any who as much as I wanted a 50s dress... when I saw this one I fell in love... classy but can still show my "new" bust lol without looking like a hooch.

Since it is the Navy ball I still want to add something to make this more "nautical" looking....

I am not sure about the attached sash... i thought about removing it and adding a belt with an anchor as an ornament on it.... or I don't know the more I look at it the more I like the sash... perhaps I should find a cute anchor necklace or something else?

So my new question...... how can I make this more "nautical" "military" or "patriotic" with out going overboard....

Thank you ladies... p.s. the picture is not mine,.. I just bought the dress for a whopping 23.00 wow.... but I wanted to share it.... pictures is property of deborahsforgetmenots

Thank you... ears and eyes wide open for suggestions!!!

These shirts are by far the most comfortable I have ever worn. They move with me and not against me. They are easy to care for and require little to no maintenance. I've been wearing these shirts for several years and they are extremely comfortable and long lasting. I highly recommend them.

It is beautiful!! I am struggling with incorporating nautical into this tho. Jewelry might be ur best bet. Many creative people here so perhaps someone will have a great idea for you.

Again, lovely dress.
