Navy day ball again! gown needed

Ok long post sorry.......

I am looking for a stunning gown, who isn't right? I have a "general" idea of what I like so here is the list.. I have searched for weeks, and I have searched through the VFG members but I am getting no where.

I actually have a few prospects but that perfect, gotta have, hasn't hit me yet... I also run into the problem of people calling dresses so many terms that I am getting tired of playing with the search engines....

The dress is needed for October 16th. I can not pay in full until October 1st, when I get our bonus. I can put a layaway or hold amount on the 1st of september and possibly pay for it all then if it is around 150ish.

I don't wan to to spend more than $250, I would rather stay around the 150 mark but if the ABSOLUTE prefect gown that I will cherish forever comes along then so be it......

Are yall bored yet? Sorry......

Must haves ---- early 60s or older, formal fabrics such as lace satin tafetta silk etc... flattering necklines such as shelf busts strapless sweatheats halter,

Likes ---- mermaid skirts, full skirts, long wiggles corseting

dislikes ---- large bows or floweres on busts, solid yellow pink or aqua chiffon party dresses. I am not a big fan of all tulle skirts either, but might be willing depending upon the dress

Would like to have --- patriotic colors reds dark bright blues or white and black.....

Would LOVE --- to find something sailor or nautical but still sexy. if a fabalous sailor print or style was available and it is cotton please post as having nautical is more important than anything to me.... thank you

measuremens 36" bust +/- (i can change the bra or go with out lol)
29" rib cage
27-28" waist (possibly 26.5)
full or 38" hips

Bigger is ok as I can always take in.... thank you all so much and I am sorry if I am being a pain!

ty debbie,,, the first one is pretty close to what I am looking for,,, I dont like those two colors though :-( sorry.... not together anyway lol...

I have black and blood red hair and I think too many colors may clash.... the style is perfect though :-)

Ty for looking I am sorry. I had my fingers crossed hoping I would find the perfect one early lol
not keen on the seconf at all... no bust thingys for me

Ty again.....and sorry

ty linn... i had that saved
marty actually had a 50s yellow and gold hawaiin dress that i was in LOVE with.. that was the it dress.... but I had to wait and see if hubby was going to let me splurge...

Thanks anne... that is more of what I was hoping for :-) I know yall have some lovely stuff hiddne or not gotten to yet!

thank you all so very much!

Jennifer, I just got home from vaca a few days ago, and have only been briefly down in my stock area--but I have a couple of things in mind that might work! Will see if I can get some pics next week. It sounds as if you are a pretty solid size medium?

thank you ladies :-)

yep medium.... my email address that comes to my phone us [email protected]

I wrote you a letter marty, but then held on to it. I figured you would work with me but I hate utting into anyone's profits, I know how it is. I wa going to wait until sept and if you still had it then send the email lol..... needless to say it didn't last long :-)

I did find two prom / ball dresses at an estate sale.... both gorgeous. not nautical and a little tlc needed but I thiunk i can make them work.... unless something better comes along.

One is 50s shelf bust strapless bubble hem peach dress with red and hot pink sash..... sadly i think it is acetate tafeta, mayebe silk but dry rotted on the bust and down the sides.... I am thinking of puttinf matching fabric down the sides to reinforce the splits, sprayng some sort of protector on the bust and getting one night of wear and pictures befoe I retire the gorgeous dress. Then I am going to keep the shell, zipper ans sash/waist intact remove the decaying skirt, check for stong fabric, and use the good to remake the bodice and find some matching fabric to redo the skirt,,, long process but very pretty dress.

the second, much easier, needs a few loose sequins reattached. Emerald green floor length with side peplums? looks late 40s to me. I will look like a mermaid lol. Hubby wants me to die the hair ginger red so I can sport the Irish heritage :-)

I will post pics on a new thread later....

Thank you Anne for being on the look out,

Oh and Marty tell your uncle Don ty and ahoy lol....My mom lived in VA beach and used to inspect the ships. we are hoping to get stationed there next.
