Neat Hat Pins

AuctionByte’s most recent update had an interesting link to people who collect hat pins. In the Victorian era when large hats perched on piled hairdos needed serious pins, these they became pieces of jewelry as well as utilitarian.

Of course folks collect these pins now, but they also collect hatpin holders.

There’s an American Hatpin Society and they are featuring “bug” hatpins this month.

THIS SITE site has some unusual hatpins, including this “pith helmet” which sold for $850 in 2007.

Oh, I love hatpins...don't find them very often, though.
I did find some very early in my selling career. I bought a few, wish I'd known better and had bought the whole lot of them!
Seriously, I left so many behind!
