Neat old Cards...

But what are they?

They look to have been printed in the 1920s, and they are hand colored. They start with 1800 and go to 1869.
These are about 75% size of the real thing. Any ideas what they were to be used for?

Very cool! Do they tell a progressional story...like a girl growing up? or are they just different examples of clothing from each time period?
 
Could they be cigarette cards? Those were trading cards that came with cigarette packs, early in the last century. They depicted a variety of subjects, and usually came in series.
 
A dear friend of mine has some similar cards matted and framed - a darling series telling the story of a courtship to the birth of the first baby in Victorian images.
I don't know what the cards were from, but I just love to look at that frame whenever I'm at her home.
