Need advice!

I need help with dressing up for a nice outing. Any advice/suggestions?
More specifically, it is an outside gathering. A soiree, if you will.

The theme is vintage but the only vintage thing I own is a brown cloche hat! I really want to look nice but I'm not so good with fashion. I want an outfit that I can wear with my hat, so I'm assuming that color is an important factor in this.

What should I wear? Dress? Blouse and skirt? Pants? What color? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, what you wear will depend a lot on a) the weather/forecast at this location and b) what you will be doing at this event (is there dancing?, will you be sitting down to eat?)

If you'd like to incorporate the hat, I'd suggest sharing some photos of it, so we can see what era it is and what might go with it.
For clothing I would start with what shapes you know suit you well - fitted at the waist or loose? mini/midi/maxi length? neckline? You can pretty much find a vintage garment from a particular era that will lend itself to your favourite styles, which will be most flattering.
