Need help dating a dress/housecoat!

Hi all! I am looking to sell this vintage dress/housecoat. I believe it may be from the 1930s or 40s, but maybe you can help. I am also wondering if someone can tell me how this would have been worn.

That’s a beautiful vintage piece the cut and fabric suggest late 1930s to early 1940s. It was likely worn as a stylish housecoat or casual day dress. I’ve been into classic styles lately.

Hard to say without seeing it up close, but the fabric looks classic 1940's and is likely rayon. Yes, a robe or dressing gown. Its wonderful.

Can you provide detail photos? I think it's 1940s but it could be 1970s, it's too far away in your photo.
