Trying to date this wonderful lace dress with slip. Dress came from an estate with clothing dating to 1890 with 3 generations having lived there. Believe this to be from the 20's or 30's. The dress and slip both have side snap closures. The slip is a metallic look fabric and I don't think it was around until the 40's. Also, the slip may not be original to the dress but it looks great together. I would appreciate any and all help. Links to photos:

Don't know about the type of lace, but the slip is a gold lame used in from at least the Teens - 1930s, so it may well be original to the dress.

Not sure if there is a specific name for the lace, as LACE alone will do in the title. In the description, though, I would say something like "floral mesh net lace".

Don't you love that old satiny fabric? That would present very nicely with a careful steaming (avoid any water spots!). If that stuff is smooth it looks like liquid.

Wonderfully 30s, and that gold underneath is smashing. I just sold this green one with coordinating underdress, did quite well.....in good shape these lace dresses w/ their original underthings are wonderful finds! Ang
