Hi All!

I recently rescued a nice brown tweed coat from a local thrift store and would appreciate a little help determining its age. I apologize for the poor quality of the photos, as my camera sucks.

The coat fits perfectly, the tweed is in great shape and other than some wear in the lining is in nice overall condition.

Oh yeah..it's a decent brand too!

Nice find! I agree though...hard to see your label shots as they are a bit blurry. This is a fairly timeless/classic herringbone tweed jacket so can be a bit hard to date without seeing inner construction and using label clues. I am leaning towards 80s on this one but could change that verdict.

Does this have Brioni signature lining?

Well, I tried to get a clearer photo of the care tag but to no avail. Like I said, my camera sucks. The tag has a name/date /ref. tag, all blank, with the numbers 44 and 54 stamped beside it, with another tag that has a row of care icons like an iron and a circled "P" and a couple of other things crossed out. Below that is a capital B in Gothic lettering, made in Italy, and the words fodera lining and futter doublure (spp?). The back of this tag says 100% wool wolle laine lana 100% cupro.

And yes, the lining is signature Brioni cloth. It also has faux surgwon's cuffs, if that helps date it.

Once again, sorry for lousy camera and thanks for the help.

John

With a full lining, care tag icons, and the width of lapel I agree with Maureen, your coat is probably no earlier than 1980s.
