Need help dating a vintage purse

Hi, I found this purse recently while at a thrift store. I was hoping someone could help me date it. There are no tags except one inside that says Made in Korea. The lining of the flap is black velvet. The rest of the lining is moire satin. I don't think it's real alligator but I can't be sure. The gold tone fittings are scored.

It looks quite modern to me...'80s or even '90s. I had a similar one, I bought it around '90 or '91. I think yours is probably embossed leather rather than alligator - but it's hard to tell from your pics. I usually look for where the material is side on, to see clues: try looking at the edges, where the fabric meets.

Another vote for early 90s, between the hardware (handle, latch, little metal corners on the flap) and the briefcase-y shape.

With a moire and velvet lining, it's almost certainly embossed rather than genuine alligator.
