Hello!

I wondered if you could help me date this jacket. It think it's made of wool, but I'm not sure. - it has a nap and it's running down, so if you run your hand up toward the collar it feels rough. It has a very soft hand. It it fully lined and has shoulder pads inside the lining. There are darts in the sleeves at the elbows. I bought some other things from this estate that dated from 1930s - 1970s. I wondered if this was from the 1940s.

The shorter fitted jackets with wide shoulder pads could be from the late 1940's early 1950's. I can see this with a flared skirt.

I agree with Marian - nice wide skirt, to show off that nipped in waist. Late '40s to early '50s. Suit jacket, I wouldn't call it a tuxedo as it only shares the colour black with those distinctive styles.
