I'm having a really had time dating this dress. It's a thin white cotton. It has details that are reminiscent of the 50s, but the longer length is making me think later (it's 51" long). It has a talon metal back zip and a couple tiny pearlescent buttons above the zip. Interior construction is well done. Fabric allowances on the interior are very small and have a zig zag stitch to keep the fabric from unraveling (like a serged stitch, but it's a zig zag--I'm sorry that I don't know the proper name). No tags or labels. Let me know if additional details or pics would help with the dating.

Lovely dress, I wonder if it's a late '60s to mid '70s wedding gown, something simple and girlish, with inspiration from previous eras. Wedding dresses often have small or non-existant seam allowances.

Melanie, I've attached a pic of the zipper head (it's a Talon zipper if you can't read the writing) as well as a pic of the lace on the skirt from the reverse side. I've also included a third pic--of the lining in the bodice, including a netted lining in the sleeves.

I see 1950s, perhaps on the early side of the decade. I do not think 51" is too long for a dress from the 1950s. Especially if it is a tea gown or summer dress for a lawn party or evening dance, cruise wear, graduation dress for a young woman, etc. Of course, not being able to handle the materials, I cannot be sure. But I really do not see 1970s.

It sure is pretty!
