Hi, i was wondering if anyone could help me date this dress, i thought it was possible that it was early sixties. There are two labels on the dress, the first is sewn to the botton of the zip- and the second sewn into the lining ('lot size 9'). The dress has a metal zip, that i beleive to be orginal and there is also a tie to tie together the skirt lining. If anyone can gelp me it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! I couldn't view the picture. Is that the whole URL, or is it missing something at the end?

Laura

Hi :hiya:, no the underskirt is a stiff fabric, i'm not exactly sure what, but there's no net. The zip is at the back which is why i thought it might be later, but i'm really not sure!

Hi, really great 50's dress! You should do well with it AND it's PINK!

The first tag on the left is what they call an order tag, not really a label. I am not fully understanding what you mean by ties to tie the skirt lining together, can you post a picture of the inside of the dress and the ties?

Tori

Is it like a stiffened muslin?

I think sometimes attached underskirts have that little tie at the back, and are fixed to the waist with a few anchoring stitches. Tori's right - should do very well if you're selling it, and I am pretty sure it's 50s too!

Here a picture of the ties at the back of the underskirt, thanks for all your help!

I'm not sure if i should try selling it on ebay, does anyone think it would be worth it? I was just really intressted to know how old it was. :)

Oh ok, those are ties to secure the built in crinoline around the waist, I would show this picture in your listing. The crinoline lining should be attached to the dress.
Again, GREAT DRESS! Is this going on eBay or a website?
Tori

Depends on the size....if its small as in size 22-24 waist then it would be a hard sell, if its larger, than I would say go for it.
You could still sell a small waisted dress but I would start it out at a price you would be comfortable with and still make money. I wouldn't sell it for less than $99.00, but that's me.

It's hard to say how much it's worth - the tricky thing about selling things on ebay is sometimes the end price has little relevance to their actual value!
Sometimes in a good way, but sometimes not so good and you'll not get a great result...

It's a difficult call really, as Tori says if you decide to sell it you should decide what you'd be happy with and either list as a buy it now, or put a reserve on the auction just incase maybe? :)

Thanks for all your help everyone, so now i know its a 50's dress! I dont think i will put it on ebay, because truth be told i'm a little bit attached to it :)
