need help dating nightgown with metal zipper

Found this nightgown today and it has no tags for brand. It has the union made label that is red and blue and it has a metal zipper. Thanks

Are you sure this is a nightgown? It looks like a mid 70s' long "Goddess" dress to me. Do you mean it has the red, white and blue post-1974 label?

There was an excellent exhibition a few years ago at New York's Costume Institute, called "Goddess" about these classically inspired fashions especially from the '30s, '70s and '90s. You can read about it here:

I agree with 70's. Really pretty dress!!

I'd say 70s too. I have a very similarly shaped dress, though it's a different color, and it has some sequin decoration on the bodice. it's not lined, but it's definitely an evening gown, not a nightgown. Nice, slinky nylon.
