I purchased this dress the seller had not much knowledge about it

I looked up the lable which said 1960 this dress dose not look 1960

also inside the dress a hook & eye type belt around the waist

At one time there were 2 -18ct gold and green stone clips on the collar

the seller sold them separately.

Thank you for any help.

Alice, the label was probably removed when the darts were taken in, to give the dress more shape - and then stitched back on.

Kathy, the waist tape is a quality touch, often found in better garments of the '50s and '60s. If you can show it on a mannequin or model we can see the shape better. It could be '60s. The extra shaping will be changing the silhouette to look less so, but as long as the stitches aren't marking the fabric you could always remove them to return to the original shape.

That would certainly account for the label, but I would have thought that a professional seamstress would have stitched the label in the skirt seam as they are most often found. But, of course, I suppose if the label had been found in the waist, that's where she would have returned it! It looks like another label or tag at the base of the zipper....is it? Can't exactly tell. Kathy, the clips would have been interesting to see, but most likely were not original to the dress.
