I'm need help dating this beautiful crepe evening gown! It has a built in slip with side fastenings, and there are floral designs stitched on the skirt and sleeves. It has a side zip and a bow at middle; the hem has a thin strip of tulle sewed in so it stays stiff and wavy-looking. There's no tag.

I tried to get as many photos as possible, unfortunately I don't have a good spot to get a pic of the whole thing because it's so long! Any info would be helpful!

You are all going to think I am crazy, but this looks exactly like a lounging gown that I own. Mine is black with the same pink applique, same amount in all the same places, same bustline, and same rolled edges/piping on the edges of the sleeves, etc. Mine has tiny snaps up the side, not a zipper. I have a robe to match, with a long train. On your gown, the zipper looks rather large and clunky for such a sheer light fabric, could it have been added at a later date? My set is post WWII, circa 1946-50.

Weird co-incidence I suppose. It is a beautiful gown whatever it is and whenever it is from.

No, I don't think you're crazy at all, Barbara! Because I have a similar peignoir set, in purple. Not the same style, but similar, and with those same appliques, which I had never seen till I obtained the set at an auction!

Barbara, I was surprised by the clunky zipper too: I would have expected snaps.

Jonathan, very good point about the neckline, I think you might be right about late '40s and if Barbara has the same set from the same time, it looks more and more like you're right.
