Need help dating this amazing gown

I love this gown! It has some flaws - fading, in particularly, but I think it is so pretty! I am hoping you can help me date it. Also, do you think it is most likely silk? I feel that it is, but have not tested it because I don't feel confident in my ability to judge using a burn test.

I also thought late 1930s from the ruching treatment on the sleeves and the appearance of the fabric, which I do believe would be silk, both details which are very similar to a dress I own.
Is that sash sewn into a seam or applied on top? I'd also like to see details of the zip if possible.

The zip looks 40's/50's to me. Is it named or marked? Due to the fact both the flowers and sash could have been added later I think it may have been updated.

The zipper is a Talon zipper.

My guess is post WWII, looks like a rayon or acetate/rayon taffeta. I also suspect it has been altered for use as a costume?
