Need help dating this Elgee coat

I just picked-up this charming coat - only wish it fit! LOVE the fabric, cut and detailing.

I've gleaned that this brand has been around since at least the 60s, and have seen early '70s Biba-esque fashion spreads featuring Elgee coats. This one certainly has that era's slim-fitting silhouette and over-sized pointy collar. The fabric seems right and the lining is that rayon that fades oddly to a rosey-purple. The strap and buckle detail (damn, missing the middle buckle!) is nagging at me as perhaps something more contemporary, however - like even Punk/New Romantic era?

Would love some guidance here!

My searches have come up with two other Elgee labels - and none with dating.

Thanks in advance!

The piecework pattern and teal colour palette suggests early 70s to me. If it were a retro-gothy thing from the 90s I would expect it to be in black, gray, red, or purple. I think the shaggy fur collar is misleading - because it looks more contemporary, but I think this is the real deal, especially if it has that faded rayon lining that has gone purply. My bet would be 1971ish.

That black gold hanging cord at back of the neck, means it's definitely not modern. It seems to be a particular thing used in England for a time. I've seen it in any number of vintage coats, many different brands, and never more modern than 70s.

yes definately 70s, the black and gold tag is definitely of the era, the lining always went that purple maroon colour but also the Made in England on the label, as well as the font.

fab coat will you keep it
