I've bought this babyblue bathing suit and I wonder how old it could be. I think 70's, but I'm not sure.
It belonged to a dentist wife. The elastic of the bathing suit is not elastic anymore. I don't know how to say it, but when I pull it wider, and then let loose it doesn't go back to its original shape. So I think it is very dry or something.

With the aqua colour, low cut back and skirted design I would be confident of calling it 1960's. The low cut scoop back is a feature particularly popular in the early 60's, and I don't think you get the skirt after the 60's either.

The chemical composition of the elastic (or elastic fibre) breaks down over a long time. This is irreversible. You may or may not be able to replace the elastic depending on where it is.

Edit: X-posted with Jonathan.

Thanks! I thought seventies because the rest of the clothing I bought from her were mostly seventies. Very happy that I bought my first original sixties bathing suit! :) I'm not able to wear it but it's nice to have :)
