I'm pretty sure this necklace is 1930s or older, but I'm not sure how old. Any help would be appreciated!

This looks like a case where dating from photos will be a challenge. I am getting a feel that this is a marriage. The back chain looks much like an early 20th century watch or fob chain and does not seem "right" for the delicate front details. Something about it looks like this was put together from other parts, and re-purposed (recently?) into a lovely necklace, perhaps to make it longer or change the style.

Can you show the join of the two types of chain?

I am not sure, this is just what I get from looking at the photos. We have some jewelry dealers here who will give an opinion I am sure.

Barbara, I see what you mean about the two different pieces of chain. I am currently looking for the necklace (I have misplaced it somewhere--argh!), and when I find it, I'll take a close up of the join between the two pieces of the chain...

I finally found this necklace and took a couple of close up pics. I noticed a couple things when looking at it more closely: 1) the linking rings for the two "parts" of the chain are different (which would support Barbara's thought that the chain might be from two separate sources and joined at a later date), but also 2) the chain has a similar metal and patina and "bumpy" detailing for each of the parts (supporting the chain originally being one piece despite the different style links). Anyone have any further thoughts?
