Hi...
I have this dress that I think may be from the late 50s, early 60s, but now I am wondering whether it is, since it has no label, and looks to be handmade, which makes its very hard to date.
Could someone help me out with this one?

I would agree with early 60's. I tend to find the surfboard lightning zippers in 60's-70's garments. They're more often the oblong tags earlier. It's a lovely sun dress.

i too agree it's early 60s, and it's charming.

this isn't a circle skirt, though; it's a pleated full skirt. a circle skirt is made by cutting out a full circle of fabric, so if you lay the dress down on the ground, with the waist in the center, it would form an actual circle.

i respectfully disagree that it's a sun dress. a sun dress is strappy - narrow straps to give maximum exposure to the sun, and be cool in summer heat at the same time.

Thanks to both of you for letting me know its proper age, and also a big thank you to Joan for correcting me on the type of skirt:)
