Need help identifying a vintage bangle

Can someone help me identify what this bracelet is made of? It's heavily carved in the same style as Bakelite bracelets I've seen, but I'm still just learning to ID Bakelite (and I don't have my Simichrome with me, I'm at work and went out on my lunch hour). There is no seam, and it's too heavy to be celluloid. The grain in the carving looks almost like wood, but the inside doesn't look or feel like wood to me...?

I'm terrible at the smell test, I can never smell Bakelite even when it turns out to test positive with other tests.

It does look like a Bakelite -- however, is the color true? It looks like a creamed corn on the underside, but I'm not sure if I'm seeing a secondary hue on the surface, unless it's a very faint tinting or resin wash.

Can you get a pic of it in natural light?
