Need Help Identifying a Vintage Purse I have

I have a purse that I just recently picked up at an estate sale. I believe it is from the 30's or 40's, there are no markings on it at all. I believe it is made of straw or burlap. I'm wondering if you could tell me what era it is from? Or what it might be worth.

hmmm..looks like woven grass to me...those ding-ed corners and shredded handle unfortunately, really take away alot of value...do you have an interior shot? is it clean?

I'd say 40s right off, maybe early 50s.........the frame/clasp at top reminds me of 40s bags I've had. Ang

Here is an interior shot of that purse. It seems very clean inside. Could the shredded strap be replaced to make the purse useable?

I was thinking that myself. A chain handle, very carefully matched to the goldtone of the clasp (which is way cool, by the way!) would certainly improve the appearance quite a bit.

I've only replaced handles on purses I was keeping for myself, though; don't know how others feel about selling one this way (with the replacement handle disclosed, of course).

Are the corners as worn as they look in your picture? (It looks like chunks of the straw are missing). If so, I'm not sure bothering with the handle will be worth it...
