I have acquired this dress and would like to sell it, but I have no idea how to price it?? ( I don't normally sell vintage clothing) I have been researching it for days, with no luck. I can't find any dresses like it, I have found undergarments/ slips, but I didn't think they made slips in bold prints back then??
-Inside Label "Colony Club": I found mostly slips, some dresses with this label online.
-Label attached to the strap: "Genuine COHAMA rayon super lambskin prints" - all I have found on the internet are newspaper ads from the 1940s regarding this fabric.
- it appears to possibly be in unworn condition, with tag still attached

Any information you can give me regarding this dress as far as era, if it is even a dress?? or about the fabric, or even advice in pricing is welcome!
And feel free to tell me if this item is really not worth anything and unworthy of my time! :)
Thanks SO MUCH!

Hi MirandaB and welcome to the forums. I think you're right: it's a slip. A nice slip, probably from the '40s.

In the late '40s to early '50s there was a fashion for sheer nylon dresses, a slip like this would look lovely beneath them.

We can't help with pricing here, but if you search for similar items in completed auctions you will get an idea of what they sell for. New, with tags increases the value.

Thank you! I have searched for days but I have not found another slip like it! I haven't even seen one in a rayon print. I was almost fully convinced it was a slip, but I found a few dresses that look similar, but have a jacket. (attached images) the Yellow Rose dress looks almost exactly like it from what I can see . Thanks for your help! I'll keep searching :)

The difference is that the dresses in the second post are:
  • dresses, not underwear
  • longer
  • 1930s, not '40s
  • have matching jackets
  • bias cut
  • different necklines
  • sleeves rather than straps.
  • silk instead of rayon
There are more differences too, but that's enough for starters.
