Need help identifying fiber necklace

Hello, not sure how old this fiber woven necklace is, it looks old but not sure how old. The cords around the neck used to be sewn together. Any info or opinions would be helpful.

Just noted your post...what in interesting piece. The gold braid looks metallic. Is there any closure?

I'm wondering if this could have been a collar on a dress at one point since you mentioned it was sewn together.
It's a very interesting piece.

Whoops, missed that part about the pieces being sewn together. It must have been a collar in that case. It has a very "art deco" look to it.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah there is a metallic thread going through it. There is no closure. I thought it looked Art Deco too. I was thinking it was maybe a handmade necklace, but it could have came off something too.
