What do you think the age is of this pin? And, do you think the symbols are Mayan, or could this be an Egyptian revival piece from the 20s?

It does look Tribal, but Mayan doesn't come to mind. I'm not able to see the catch very well -- can you describe it?

It reminds me of a miniature door handle, hinge, or drawer handle. Very interesting.

I believe it is a replica of a roman fibula, to fasten a robe at the shoulder. Worn by women and roman soldiers alike.

I don't see either Mayan or Egyptian; the symbols put me in mind of Oceanic or aboriginal art...
